Spoon and Seed, Hyannis
Located near the airport a short drive from town, Spoon and Seed is an earthy, family-run restaurant that specializes in breakfast and lunch. Breakfast time at the Spoon and Seed runs from 7 AM to 10:59 AM and lunch goes from 11 to 2 PM. Although lunch service includes a selection of “breakfast after hours” eggs Benedict and omelet selections, it’s the breakfast menu that shines. The eggs Benedict array shows off what talented cooks can do with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The full breakfast menu is long and features a number of unique offerings.
Eggs Faustina, for example, puts an Italian spin on eggs embellished with peppers, mushrooms, onions, and eggplant, served over polenta-style grits and roasted chickpeas. BBQ 4 Breakfast comes with two eggs served with house-smoked pulled pork sparked with kimchi, barbecue sauce, and a toasted cheddar biscuit.
Oh, those biscuits! If you didn’t order breakfast with a biscuit, you can take some home from the bakery counter on your way out. Spoon and Seed is located at 12 Thornton Drive in Hyannis.
Belfry Inn and Bistro, Sandwich
Sunday brunch at the Belfry Inn and Bistro runs from 11 AM to 3 PM and features such standout choices as lobster omelettes, duck confit, and brioche French toast. What makes this place special beyond the brunch menu, however, is the unique setting.
Housed in a former church, the dining room glows with warm oak paneling and gleaming stained-glass windows. Next door is the former rectory, a Victorian painted lady transformed into a burger bar and cafe. The church, known as the Abbey, plus the Painted Lady and a third Federal-style house make up a top tier inn with 22 rooms.
This Sandwich landmark serves dinner, too, allowing guests to book a weekend getaway sandwiched (see what we did there?) between two spectacular meals. The Belfry Inn and Bistro is located at 6 Jarves Street in Sandwich.
Ann and Fran’s Kitchen, West Yarmouth
This West Yarmouth home-style restaurant has been in business since 1975. Brunch focuses on comfort food with signature dishes like hash and eggs, banana bread pancakes, and cinnamon swirl French toast.
Stand-out sides at Ann and Fran’s include their potatoes and their scrumptious biscuits and gravy, two dishes dear to brunch goers who love hearty fare. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
Anejo Mexican Bistro, Hyannis and Falmouth
Sunday brunch at this Cape Cod hotspot puts Mexican cuisine front and center. Everything from French toast to chicken and waffles gets a Mexican touch, and you can also choose from Mexican dishes like tostadas, burritos, and enchiladas.
Anejo’s Cape Cod location takes advantage of seafood with offerings like taquitos made with local lobster, fried calamari, and scallop tostadas. And, yes, these are brunch offerings.
Tequila holds a special place at Anejo’s. The brunch menu includes tequila-based cocktails drawn from an impressive list of both blanco and aged tequilas. In Hyannis, Anejo’s is located at 599 Main Street. The Falmouth location is at 188 Main Street.
